Development of Theory of Mind

The development of the Theory of Mind starts in early childhood and continues through adolescence. Initially, infants have a limited understanding of other people’s mental states, but by the age of three or four, most children have developed a basic understanding of the concept of belief. By the age of five or six, children begin to understand that people can hold false beliefs, which is a crucial step in the development of the Theory of Mind.
